Okay, I'm not sure where to put this since currently this is in the fantasy creature's board, but lions aren't exactly fantasy, so....
The Pride of Lions, usually just called Moon's Pride, is one of the strongest prides around- for the members fight and hunt as though they have one mind, and this has brought them together, to be stronger.
The pride was begun by a creamy-white male lion, named Moon. He sought to begin a pride, and found a wandering old lioness named Silver. Silver was a cream-pelted lioness, like Moon, and together they had a cub, the same color as his parents.
Soon, Moon gathered more lionesses, many cream-pelted. His son had no name, not even when he was fully grown. Silver had died before her son grew up fully, and Moon grieved for her. He left the running of the pride to his son, and many, recognizing the similarities between father and son, started calling the young lion Moon after his father.
So the elder Moon died, and the new Moon took his place. The similar pelt color carried from father to son, and each king has been named Moon. And the queens, the kings' loyal mates? If they were white colored, or even pale grey, they were named Silver.
For the members of Moon's Pride believed that if the moon touched a cub and the cub's pelt was turned creamy, then that cub was blessed with power. No lion yet has truly discovered this power, all of it, and the one who will is prophesied to be either the greatest king of Moon's Pride, or the cause of its downfall.
There are lions touched by darkness, too. And these lions are cast out from Moon's Pride as soon as they are a year old, for their pelts are black or the darkest brown. Their mothers are not permitted to breed with the same lion that sired the dark lions, and if the lioness raises more dark lions, she must never breed again except with a moon-touched lion, for she carries the darkness within her.
Moon's Pride has no permanent camp, nor a permanent territory. They go wherever Moon takes them, but stay out of other pride's lands. Currently they are staying in caves, set into grassy hills, but Moon is anxious to move again.
